— Community — N° 02

A neighborhood joint.

A lot has happened here since our founding in 1993. Partners have met, theses and books have been written, and friends have been made. Here are just a few of the stories from our regulars.

N° 01 — What they say —

Three decades of regulars.

As we entered the 1369 we immediately felt a connection to that place. It was nice, warm and the tea and cookies were delicious. Just what we needed to see, a bit of light in all our chaos.

Tim and Laura

What has made 1369 part of the fabric of our lives (and a near daily stop) are the people behind the counter and the interest that they take in their customers.

Ted

Over the years, some of the groups of friends we meet there as well as the staff have changed, but the easygoing friendly atmosphere has not. 1369 has remained a part of our weekend morning routine.

Max

It feels great when a someone behind the counter asks how long I’ll be back, and how was DC. Just seeing the same faces each morning makes me feel at home—to me, that’s community, my Inman Square community.

Corine

1369 is a place that embraces the importance of building community.

Renee, Rob and Raina

Even when it is crowded (which is often) I find it relaxing to be there, watch/talk to the customers and great staff, listen to some usually great music… If I can get one of the 4 window seats, I am happiest.

The cork wall by the door.

Lost cats, band shows, sublets, free piano, dog walkers. The bulletin board has been there as long as we have. Pin something up — but ask first.

N° 02 — Giving back —

Giving back

As part of the Central and Inman Square neighborhoods, we strive to find ways to give back. We support local non-profits and run volunteering events where our staff can give their time to local causes.

Drink For a Cause

Every two months we choose a new drink and a new non-profit. $1 of each drink sale goes directly to the cause. We also organize a volunteer day for our staff and find ways to promote the non-profit's work.

Art on the walls

We're proud to display the works of local artists on the walls of our shops. Since 2018, we've featured over 150 artists from across Greater Boston — for many, it's their first time showing in a public space, and many make their first sale through us.
